Kym Tuvim: Listen
Mystery
(Kym Tuvim)
I was on tour in California when I started writing this song. I was hanging out in my friend's Volkswagon Van, trying to get some private time while on the road, playing guitar, when the first half of the song came to me 1/2 way done, words & music, in about 15 minutes. The only problem is that I had no idea what the song was about...
It took me about a year or so to finish it. During that time, I read a particular book - Hanna's Daughters, by Marianne Fredriksson, which inspired me to finish this song.
MYSTERY
(c) Kym Tuvim
All the things that matter
And all the things that don’t
Rush to pull you under, don’t they though
Now you, come in tangled
A bittersweet mess
You’re so tired, you’re so tired, you’re so tired of all of this
And you say, ‘love’s a constant mystery to me’
Now I love someone broken
And, I’ve been broken, too
With our hearts split wide open
And nothing for us to do
When your mind pulls you under
Such a price, oh my beloved
Now I’m so tired, so godammed tired, I miss you, I miss us
And, I say ‘love’s a constant mystery to me’
Now The Years will fall behind us
As they please
And maybe you’ll remember me
But, I know you, my darling
And I’ll remember well
When you’re so tired, you’re so tired you can’t remember yourself
And this is love, a constant mystery
